The Mottled Sheep

il_570xN.463770149_ejtxBurnished Rose, a sock/fingering weight, 75/25 super-wash merino and nylon mix of hand-dyed yarn from Siobhan Power’s etsy shop The Mottled Sheep. The fibre Siobhan uses in her yarns originate from various countries; the merino for example is Australian and the Blue Faced Leicester is British. They yarns were all then spun in a small, family run mill in the UK. Siobhan chose the little British mill because it’s as local as possible, the product is of an excellent quality, and because she wanted to avoid the use of larger mills in China for example, because it’s impossible to know that those workers are being treated fairly. il_570xN.463758514_ii8m
The yarn has been dyed by applying the dye randomly, which  should minimize any colour pooling in the finished knitting and create a more gentle graded effect, rather than the striped effect of many yarns. This also means that no two hanks are identical. There is approximately 400 metres in this 100 gram hank.
